Financial Abusers Do Not Discriminate
Anyone Can Be a Victim of Elder Financial Abuse
by Don Drake, Connelly Law Offices, Ltd.

"Financial abuse in many ways is quite similar to other forms of abuse of the elderly in that it is emotionally devastating for the victim and is, more often than not, traced to family members, close friends, and trusted caregivers," stated certified elder law Attorney RJ Connelly III. "The big difference is, most financial abuse begins innocently with the permission of the senior, and by the time it has progressed to criminal levels, the senior is often embarrassed to admit that they have put themselves into such a position fearing being moved from an independent living situation into an institutional setting and losing all control over their assets."
