Rhode Island Elder Law Attorney - Professional Fiduciary Services
Elder Law Attorney for Rhode Island, Eastern Connecticut and Southeastern Massachusetts
Gabriela Lopez - Legal Assistant
“Gaby” is a legal assistant at Connelly Law Offices who originally came to our firm after completing an internship at another law office through the Law and Public Safety Academy at Tolman High School in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. That program is associated with Roger Williams University in an articulation agreement with them. During her time with our firm, Gaby has exhibited a level of responsibility seldom seen in someone her age and has become a valued member of the Connelly Law team.
In her role as a legal assistant, she assists both the legal and fiduciary department at Connelly Law but spends the majority of her time in fiduciary services. “Attorney Connelly is a professional fiduciary, which entails many roles and responsibilities for a client’s finances,” said Gaby. “One of my favorite tasks here is assisting our fiduciary services specialist with daily money management services. On any given day, I may be helping with bank accounts, tracking down stock information or doing accountings for clients.”
Outside of the office, Gaby is attending college for social work, which helps her understand some of the end of life issues and emotional turmoil some clients feel during some of the difficult choices associated with aging. In fact, she has attended and participated in many of Connelly Law’s presentations on dementia for families and organizations.
“Our Safe Harbor Services help our clients understand that there is a wide variety of services available to help individuals and families impacted by Alzheimer’s or dementia,” Gaby said. “This service helps families find and develop these resources and prepare them for the challenges associated with the progression of the disease.”
“By utilizing our Safe Harbor Services, we can reduce the stress on the family, and in turn, this has a trickle-down effect on the person with dementia because they don’t sense the stress from those who act as the caregiver,” said Gaby. “Because of this, everybody’s life is improved.”
